Wow!!! Great projector for the money
I decided to take the leap into the projection world after a power surge thru my satelite cable took my plasma hdtv out. I have always wanted to create a home theather, but never could justify it when I had a perfectly good tv already. Now that I have this little baby, there is no going back! I had done a lot of research on projectors, and this one was by far the best you can find for the money. Decided to purchase a 100" fixed screen from EliteScreens(they are the cheapest) to finish the room up. The combination of this projector and the screen is simply amazing. I am like a kid at the candy store everytime I watch a blu-ray movie. Seeing movies in 1080p at this size is stunning! I have read other reviews about the projector not being able to produce deep dark "blacks" This may be true, but if your not an absolute fanatic about that, its not all that noticeable!
My only warning about this item is to not turn the "Image AI" setting on. For some reason the sensor doesn't respong quick enough and you can be in a whole different scene before it kicks in. Ex.....start out watching a night scene and it changes to a daylight scene the projector will overcompensate the daylight scene because it is pushing settings for the night scene. Overall not a big deal....just keep it off!
For under $1000 you can't go wrong with this projector. Amazon shipped it immediately and I had it up and running in no time. If you happen to be looking for a screen too I suggest you look into elitescreens also.

My First Projector
First things first, I am very picky customer. However, this is my first projector and I'm not a videophile.

I was torn between a 55" HDTV and projectors in general, until my friend set one up in his basement. I purchased the HD20, a Draper 106" screen, Sony HTS S370 Surround; all to go with my Playstation 3.

Now that I have projector - there's no going back. I will never buy a Plasma/LCD/LED TV ever again.

For under $1500, I now have 106" of HD & Surround Sound awesomeness. 1080P looks AMAZING.

Optoma HD20 Pros:

-Great value
-Excellent 1080P picture quality
-Vivid colors
-Good brightness
-Easy setup, easy operation
-Quiet operation (I read reviews that said fan noise was a problem; not the case for me)
-Quick startup, rapid shutdown

Cons:
-Black levels could be better. Maybe should have bought a gray screen instead of white?
-The backlit remote buttons are insanely bright

All in all, I couldn't be more satisfied.

Fabulous clarity
Bought it a week back. Fabulous clarity and precision. I hope it is as good as it is now even when I take it around for my presentations on my official trips overseas!

Just Fascinating
I wanted to buy an HD projector for playing games, viewing movies, and showing presentations with my laptop. This projector works way better than i expected, and has a fair price. Even with no screen (just projecting on a white painted wall) the image quality is excellent. A good recommendation is that the ambient must be as dark as possible to ensure the best experience. Calibrating the projector for more intense colors also works when working with relatively bright environments, but yo should avoid this since the lamp usage is more intense too.

Overall, easiest to use, quality that is way above the expectations, and price is fair. You won't be disappointed.
