This receiver is a "steal" for the features and sound quality!
I spent a total of 10 hours researching different receivers and reading reviews/ratings for receivers under $1000. I was ready to go with Denon or Yamaha, but something kept bringing me back to the TX-SR607. It was the fact that I could get a 90W output with 5 HDMI inputs for under $400!!! Combine that with the Audessy sound tweaking features, and this receiver can't be matched until you get into the Yamaha and Denon $800+ price range.
I was skeptical about the quality of sound considering the price. That was quickly put to rest after listening to an HD concert through the new system. The richness and depth of sound was 100x better than my old Panasonic 5.1 receiver. It was balanced and not harsh like my old Panasonic. I've only had it 2 weeks, so I can't comment on reliability. But, I can tell you that the sound quality, flexibility (number of inputs), and ease of use is a "steal" for under $400!

Price/Performance Home Theater
I have the TX-SR606 in my room and loved the ease in setting it up. Coming from a sony HTIB and using the same exact speakers I could tell the difference was immense. After that, I knew I couldn't be dissappointed with the TX-SR607 for my family's main home theater. Using even better speakers and new sub, the sound was crisp and clear watching blu-ray movies. 1 update to the model I really love, the HDMI port on the front in case I want to hook up a laptop or my zune HD.

More than pleased.
I have had an Onkyo receiver for my home theater since its purchase in 2000. The sound quality and enhancement through the receiver suits my needs just fine. Although I needed to send my original out for repair after 5 years use (thats daily) it was worth the time and effort to replace parts. The technician who worked on the older Onkyo could not believe it was there for repair..."Onkyo's just don't break". The newer version comes with all the outputs I need and has the digital HD hook ups for future upgrading of present componants.
I had begun looking for a replacement receiver just before christmas, but every box store I looked at never had them instock or they were pretty pricey. I ended up purchasing this receiver from Amazon.com for half the price of the big box store and...free shipping. I couln't be more pleased. Easy to hook up, simple to understand and wonderful to listen to.

Great receiver for the price.
I purchased this baby back in December and i am impressed for a 1st time owner of an Onkyo Receiver. It has 5 HDMI inputs plus 1 output plus an AUX HDMI in the front. Plenty of HDMI ports to connect all of my systems. Great design, but a little bulky. I would highly recommend this receiver.
