Date: 2009-12-23 DO NOT BUY!!! I made that mistake I already own an 80gig PS3 and wanted to get my brother-in-law one for Christmas. He owns a lot of PS2 games and the 40, 60, and 80gig systems were the only backward compatable systems available. After my purchace I realized that Sony had created a newer version of the 80gig that was NOT backward compatable only after the purchace. Big mistake! Not only was it not backward compatalbe but also had none of the features that mine has (mini and SD card reader ect.) and two less USB ports. This system is bulkier and has MUCH less memory than the smaller newer versions although everything else is the same. The big difference? The price!!!! The cheapest here is $[...]! That is $[...] more than the same system with 120gig at a retail store and that doesn't include the shipping and handling!! It is also $[...] more than the SAME system from these retailers than buying direct from Sony. I love my original 80gig PS3 and the system in general but even though I paid more for mine when it was the highest priced system at the time (80, 60 and 40gig) I would NEVER pay what they ask for ANY newer version of the 80gig system. Date: 2009-12-23 Great price I bought this with 2 games included and it was a great deal and I'd buy it again. Date: 2009-12-21 PS3 80GB player Was just what I wanted and expected when I recieved it. Wireless downloads, etc. You can keep yourself busy, just playing the Demos if you want. At this time, am using a regular TV, which makes it hard to read the descriptons of things, so be aware of this. Was disappointed that this verison and the next, donot play PS2 game disks. But you can download some of the PS2 games that have been formated to play on the PS3. Overall am very pleased with the PS3. Date: 2009-11-25 $97 Shipping??? Are you out of your mind? I was going to buy this but when I went to the last page and saw the shipping rates... haha, nevermind! An outrageous charge of $97 dollars for standard shipping. Their shipping policy states the following" Our shipping rates, $5.69 Plus $0.68 Per LB."; is the PS3 134lb? I don't believe so... Date: 2009-11-20 Love it I bought my PS3 shortly after it released in 2006. I've had it for 3 years and have put a LOT of hours on it since I got it. I knew at the time that buying an original release model meant a good chance of having problems with it. It locked up on me once or twice over the past 3 years, but nothing a push of the reset button wouldn't fix. Sad news today though, I have experienced the yellow light of death. Many Xbox fanboys might point and laugh, but considering the fail rate of the release model 360's, I say that this thing did pretty good. It had a decent run and has served me well over the past 3 years. It survived well beyond its warranty and I got good use out of its many features, most of which the Xbox does not have.(i.e. blue ray, extra usb ports, rechargable controllers, camera card reader, and free online play and internet browsing) The death of the system is the only complaint I can come up with for it, so I am planning on buying a new one since they are only $299 now as apposed to $599 at release. It costs a little more than the 360, but with the extra features, you get what you pay for. When you consider buying an Xbox and a Blu-ray player, your going to spend $300 anyway. * Price is subject to change. |
