Good idea, but not too sure about the quality
Great set of features, which are hard to find at this price point. But right from the get go, I'm having issues with the thing. Gets angry if it's not the last thing turned on, and sometimes it messes up the video at the very top of the screen.....if the support folks don't figure this out soon, I'm a send it back...

Everything is great but it does get HOT!
No reason to repeat all the great things said here and they are true. But I would emphasize that this unit gets very hot and even starts to smell of hot circuit boards! I have it in a cabinet with openings in the back, 1 " clearance, no other heat generators, and the front full size door open at all times it is running...still it hotter than anything I have used except for a ham radio transmitter! I recommend that you plan ahead to either fan cool or leave this on top instead of inside a cabinet.

match made in Blu-ray heaven
I upgraded to this amp to take advantage of its HD audio decoding, and let me assure you this one really delivers! This amp efficiently handles the lossless tracks from Blu-ray and HD DVD. Power is more than adequate for small to medium sized rooms. The HDMI switching (4 in, 1 out) is so convenient. I've got a pair of Rocketfish systems handling the 4 discrete surround channels. (If you want to hear a lossless 7.1 demo, pop "3:10 to Yuma" into your Blu-ray machine!) I wish this allowed user-generated input labelling, but why bring up such a minor quibble with such a magnificent piece of machinery?! Highly, strongly recommended!

Great buy for the price
Nice system. 4 hdmi inputs. Could use a bit more power but for the money this is a great amp. Cannot connect a passive subwoofer so I had to buy an active subwoofer. I purchased the Onkyo SKW 204.. works great.

Full HD, HDMI Splitter, 7.1, Onkyo name, why pay more?
I replaced a 9 year old JVC 5.1 system with this after buying a PS3 to use as a Blu-Ray player. I wanted to take advantage of the new hd audio standards, and was tired of not having enough HDMI inputs on my 52" Samsung 1080P tv. The 4 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output work perfectly, switching as needed.

Rundown:

Hookup: Easy, everything is well labeled and there is ample space to work my fat fingers. Read the instructions if you only have 5.1 speakers instead of 7.1, you have to use specific hookups (what I'm saying is don't guess like I did and then wonder why it didn't work... the instructions are very clear if you bother to open them!) :) I have the following inputs hooked up through it right now: FiOS HD/DVR TV Receiver (HDMI), XBOX 360 Elite (HDMI), PS3 (HDMI). Everything feeds out to my TV via HDMI.

Configuration: Simple after you read the instructions. The microphone they provide to "tune" the system, coupled with the on-screen walk through setup system is very nice.

Use: Couldn't be better, they've done a great job of giving you the right buttons and LCD display features/text. My Logitech Harmony 880 remote has the configuration for this receiver in the database, and controls the receiver perfectly.

Audio quality: Amazing, noticeably better than my JVC 5.1 in 5.1 mode, and once I added the other speakers for 7.1 it is fantastic! No more distortion when I crank up the volume in Call of Duty 4 or during a loud movie scene.

Video quality: Everything looks great in 1080p!

Bottom line: For well under $400 shipped, this model competes with some of the much, much more expensive units.
