Date: 2008-07-07 Great TV at a great price! After months of research, going to stores and scouring the internet I settled for the Panasonic TH-50PZ80U. This TV is one of the less expensive 50" Plasmas but has great picture and the HD channels are very clear. It has great reviews and in the week I have had the TV the reviews are justified. I chose it over the TH-50PZ85U because it seems the only difference between the two is a little higher contrast ratio and that the 85U has a PC input and my PC has an HDMI output so I didn't need a PC input so it wasn't worth an extra $200 for me. Just a few issues. The regular channels do not fare as well but that could well be just in comparison to the HD channels. There is only one composite video input in the back which I use to plug in my old (non up-converting) DVD player which means I have to plug my PS2 in the front. Not that big a deal since I will get a new DVD player with HDMI soon. Also the TV is on a fixed base and it would have been nice to be able to tilt it a little due to the height of my TV table. Amazon had the TV cheaper than anywhere else. I ordered the TV on Sunday and they delivered it on Thursday via CEVA. They took it out of the box but I expected them to set the TV up on the stand and plug it in but they did not do that. Still, for the price it wasn't a big deal since Best Buy would have been at least $200 more plus tax plus $60 delivery. Date: 2008-06-26 Awesome Quality I have always been very reluctant about plasma tvs but after reading about and reserching the newest models from Panasonic and the upgraded technology I became a believer. The picture on this tv is really incredible. Great contrast and color with amazing blacks. Love the game mode which now enables you to to safely play your video games. With the anti image retention setting I feel much safer about the chance of screen burn. The new antireflective screen does a great job cutting down the amount of glare and relection. The only thing I am not crazy about is the sound quality. I find it to be on the weak side but it is not a big issue since I have the TV hooked up to my stereo system. All in all I highy recommend this set for its quality and performance. Date: 2008-06-26 excellent product. Excellent product. Very happy with it in every way. Stable stand - no need to purchase a separate stand. Date: 2008-06-23 Satisfied customer I ordered this TV 1 week ago today and am already watching it. I am 100% satisfied with the delivery service, the TV, and its price! I had to make one phone call to the 888 # given while setting it up. The woman I talked to at that # was extremely knowledgeable and my problem was taken care of in 5 minutes. I would recommend this TV at this price to anyone I know. Date: 2008-06-13 Magnificent! I'm not an audio or video expert, just your average joe who appreciates a great television experience. I've been pining for an HDTV for several years, tried to be patient until the quality increased and the prices decreased. This year I started doing some research and settled on this particular TV. I was astounded by the price difference between Amazon and the box stores, but was hesitant to make such a serious purchase over the internet, but it was simply an offer I couldn't refuse. I placed the order on a Monday morning, received a call on Friday afternoon that the TV was ready to be delivered, and it came on Saturday morning. The delivery guys brought it in and opened it up. A friend and I bolted it to the stand, plugged it in and connected the cable. Nothing to it. I was amazed at the quality with just the regular cable signal. It would be a few days before the cable company could bring an HD box, but man, when we got that connected -- I ordered an HDMI cable at the same time so they brought me an HDMI HD converter -- and it was love at first view! The cable guy said he does this all day long and he didn't think he'd seen a better picture. I subscribe to all the premium movie channels and sports channels, so all of that in HD is just overwhelming. At times, it honestly looks like a 3D image. I'm toying with the idea of one of these upconverting DVD players. A clerk at Radio Shack told me he got one and that it did make quite a difference in picture quality with an HDTV and an HDMI connection, so at some point I may spring for that while waiting for the BluRay players to come down in price. Anyway, I couldn't be more pleased with the product and the service and price from Amazon. If you're in the market for a plasma TV, definitely give this one a look!
