Date: 2009-03-23 Superb price/performance LCD Amazon contracted delivery service, pulled the LCD from the box and carried it anywhere in the house I wanted. They would have done a full test to verify the set was working perfectly, however, the set was too cold that morning, must have been sitting in the truck for a couple of hours. Didn't matter though, since they signed a paper stating they couldn't test it, giving me rights to reject later if it didn't work, nice! The set happened to work perfectly out of the box. I did a few minor adjustments found on CNET and the picture, color, detail are fantastic. Zero complaints at this stage. Date: 2009-03-23 A very nice mid range LCD TV After reviewing a lot of information, I was deciding between A550 and the higher version (A650 and above). The higher versions had 120 Hz but I was put off by the red Touch of Color in the bezel. So, I finally decided against the A650. Having read the reviews on amazon.com about the sound quality of the A550, I was a bit apprehensive but I found it good enough. I usually set it to 'Speech' and it sounds good- though it could also have to do with the room in which the TV is. Feedback on delivery- My TV was delivered by CEVA and the delivery worked very smoothly. Though it was scheduled for another day, I called them directly to see if it could be delivered earlier and they had an open slot. I am on the 3rd floor and the stairs are narrow, but it was in my room in less than 5 mins! Suggestions- I have been trying to follow some of the advice in the TV manual- 1) There is an option for energy setting that saves energy and also avoids strain on the eyes 2) If the picture size does not fill the whole screen, I change the picture size so that the burn-in is even 3) I try not to leave a static image on the screen for too long e.g when I am playing something recorded through my DVR and have paused the program A friend of mine showed me optimal settings for picture quality for Samsung LN46A550 on CNET and it did make a lot of difference. So, be sure to look into that and use those settings. Date: 2009-03-20 Nice Samsung LCD!! This was the first time that we have ever purchased anything through Amazon and I couldn't be more happy. We are re-doing our living room into a contemporary style and this absolutely makes the room. Delivery was much faster then what we expected. I placed the order on a Saturday night and we had our TV by Tuesday. The picture on this is wonderful and my boyfriend says it has the best view when it comes to sports. I would recommend this product for anyone that is looking to put a nice touch on any room!!! Date: 2009-03-19 Samsung LN46A550 46 inch LCD HDTV We love this TV and loved purchasing it from Amazon. The delivery company comes in and sets it up to make sure everything is working correctly...a nice little perk. I shopped around everywhere and this was the cheapest price. Fry's initially looks cheaper but Amazon has no hidden costs. The price you see is what you get. Other stores add on sales tax, some recycling fee and warranty fees on to their sticker price. Consumer reports ranked this TV second in its size (the first was another Samsung) Date: 2009-03-19 Amazing TV. Not much to say really. The vendor Amazon uses to ship this item came into my house unpacked it and plugged it in to make sure everything worked. From then on, the TV has been breath taking. What a picture! Works flawlessy and all the settings menus are very intuitive. * Price is subject to change. |
