Date: 2008-02-01 Nice TV This is a nice TV! Great HD picture, very bright. Had to Tone it down a bit with the vast selection of picture controls available. It took a little while to dial the picture in, due to wide array of controls, but it was worth doing, made the picture much more pleasing. The companion stand is also good. Overall a good deal for the money. Date: 2008-01-25 Great experience/price/TV This TV was in my house, set up by "them",cardboard box GONE, and functioning in less than a week from when I ordered it WITH free shipping. Love the TV, exactly what we wanted. We have another DLP and love the technology. Good picture even with lots of sunlight. Great picture, easy to use. Very satisfied with all aspects of this purchase. Date: 2008-01-21 Easy to setup and connect, but dim picture in bright room I purchased this TV as it offered full 1080P resolution and one HDMI port that is specifically dedicated for connection to media center PC which I use. PC readily recongized the TV and set resolution at 1920 x 1080. I'm using an Nvidia dual DVI card with a Monster DVI to HDMI cable. Picture is great but in very low light level scenes there is a slight blue cast at the bottom. During daytime in a well lighted room, the LED light engine is not bright enough and picture looks washed out even after adjustment. My other complaint is no front A/V connections. They are on the back right side and difficult to access for connecting a portable device. Also placeing my 5" JBL center channel speaker in front blocks the I.R. window for the TV (and the manual power button). Overall I still found the Samsung to be a good value for the screen size and resolution it offers. I also like the idea of not having to replace lamps. Lets hope the LED light engine lifetime is up to specifications. I understand it is very expensive to replace. Date: 2008-01-21 Minor Problems, Great Picture Great TV. I picked this up sans remote for a great discount and have been really happy with it, except for an annoying factory error that results in a bluish glow at the bottom center of the screen when there is a lot of contrast between the upper and lower parts of the screen. (It almost looks like blue lens flare.) It drove me up the wall and turned out to be a stupid bracket on the lens assembly that was made of shiny metal. After three weeks of phone tag with Samsung repair, the guy came over and switched the part with a matte black version. (It took under a half hour.) Problem solved, finally. It also doesn't get along with my Logitech Harmony remote: causing weird random pauses when starting everything up, and occasionally turning my Xbox 360 back on after everything shuts down. Finally, the LEDs shut off entirely to save power when the screen is completely black, which can be annoying if the movie/game goes between totally black and almost totally black. I think this can be minimized with the right video settings, though. Other than the nitpicks, I absolutely love this TV. Date: 2008-01-19 I like this HDTV I will write again after I have had this for longer but after 11 days, I find this to be very good with colors and the picture can be quite clear. However I dont like the picture under certain scenes within the actual movies. It doesnt happen all the time but yet it does happen, probably the quality of the movie itself. I have read reviews on how this rivaled a pioneer pro plasma for 1. color, 2. Blacks and 3. detial. The sound is ok, I dont really feel its all that bad. Im overall pleased, and u wont really find too many HDTVs that are without problems. I dont notice any rainbow effect yet, and neither do I sense a hot spot, just some geometry problems on 2 or 3 movies (but not all and probably the movie)) that ive watched. Ive seen it cheaper but feel more comfortable buying from Amazon, and dont really trust very many other retailers that are way across the US on the eastern coast, meaning that the tv would travel all that way, when Amazon has a warehouse 100 miles from where I live. Kudos to Samsung for such a beauty, and picture too. Eagle for me wa s great. I called them and actually got this a day early and they came as scheduled between 10:00 and 2:00 PM. The fellow was freindly and waited til I turned it on before he left.
