Date: 2008-03-17 Great TV, great price, and even quick delivery! I read enough reviews of this model who said to avoid Electronics Expo for shipping, so I did. I used a shipper who according to the most current product page is no longer shipping this model, so I'll just say that my non-EE experience was very good. I got the TV a full week before the estimated delivery date. From what I'd been reading, this does not happen with EE. But on the the things I am more qualified to talk about. The TV is great - very easy out-of-the-box setup, good menus, universal remote, plug-and-play capability for cable, DVD, antenna, etc., and a great picture. $1300 delivered. I was a little nervous about buying a DLP TV (I had originally wanted a flat screen), but the 13"-deep TV looks great in my living room. I would definitely purchase Samsung again. Date: 2008-03-16 Good TV, but Viewing angle problems I moved from 37 inch LCD TV, so this was big screen size change for me. Also I got it for about 1175, so it was good deal. Picture is good , blacks are really black. The only problem is that you get the best picture only when sitting directly in front of TV. Also one side of my living room is windows, that dims the picture if blinds are open. So to get best experience one has to directly sit in front of TV( about 20 degree) and close the blinds. This might be good for watching movies , but if you watch a lot of TV during day this is deal breaker. You cannot darken room for whole day or viewing time. Also we watch TV from variety of angles. Vertical angle picture dimming is worse. My earlier LCD did not have these angle and light problems to this extent. I think the problem is generic for DLP TV's and not specific to this model. Finally decided to return the TV as it had some defects also , and am getting an LCD. Samsung LNT5265F 52" 1080p LCD HDTV Date: 2008-03-16 I was very impressed.... Like many folks I was leary of buying such a large item on line but boy was I wrong. First off the picture is out of sight. The price was the best around. No sales tax and to top it all off, free shipping. Eagle shipping called to set up the delivery day and I asked them can you deliver on a Thursday between 8 and 10am? They said fine. Thursday morning at 8:06 they were at my front door. Set up was a breeze, the tv is awesome and I'm a very happy customer. What more could I ask for? Nice job all around. Date: 2008-03-12 Had it for 3 months now... it's great! Pros: - Fantastic picture. Very crisp, colorful, and the blacks are good. - Great value. 50" 1080p plasmas and LCD's are much more expensive - Energy efficient. I contribute less to global warming than my neighbor with a 50" plasma. - Horizontal viewing angles are surprisingly good. I can get at 45 degree angle before I start noticing a decrease in brightness. So, unless you have an extrememly wide living room, no viewers will usually be sitting in the poor brightness zone. Cons: - Vertical viewing angle is not very good. If your head is above the top of the TV or below the bottom of the TV, you notice a significant decrease in brightness. However, how often does that happen? Only if you're sitting on the floor in front of the TV, or watching as you walk into the living room before you sit down. -SLIGHT bow at top of screen. I can only notice it during letterbox movies. I thought this was a big deal at first, but then I realized I have more important things to worry about in life. Date: 2008-03-10 Samsung 50" DLP, LED I am thrilled with my Samsung 50" DLP (LED). The picture is sharp tnd the color is terrific. I have no complaints with the sound. Hockey games are so much better. I am looking forward to the baseball season!!!
