Date: 2008-03-25 Incredible!!! This is an amazing T.V.!!! Standard Def looks as good as any regular T.V. and the HD Channels are fantastic. It showed up from Cruthfield Via Eagle in 4 days. Brought it in and unboxed it. Using Time Warner HD with a $7 HDMI cable off Amazon. No Distortion or bowing in picture at all. I am just Blown away with the quality so far for the money. I shopped and researched T.V.'s for NINE months before choosing this one. There is nothing better out there for the money. This puts $3000 LCD's to shame. Date: 2008-03-23 Don't buy this TV (UPDATED) I first ordered this TV when it was called HLT5087S. The TV failed after 2 months of use (TV will turn on/off randomly), the authorized service technical couldn't find any problems. Since it as under Amazon's holiday extended return policy Amazon took it back and sent us a new TV same model but now the model was changed to (HLT5087SAX) slight difference because of its later built date, I think the geometric and halo problems were fixed, but I'm not sure. Well we got the new TV on January 27, and yesterday March 22 - The TV stopped working, it has the three blinking lights problem - according to Samsung its a LED light Engine Failure. Now waiting on the tech to show up again. The TV has one of the best picture quality of any LCDs or Plasma's, but only if it works. I would also recommend you to buy the N.E.W extended warranty from Amazon when you buy this TV. I DON'T RECOMMEND YOU BUY THIS TV AT ALL. PROS: Picture quality, Black Levels CONS: Unreliable, Viewing angles(this is with all DLPs), Sound Update: After a week without TV, the tech came out and pretty much spent an hour replacing different parts and now everything except the shell is new. TV is working, the fault was a failed LED engine. I might raise the rating to may be a 3 stars, hopefully this is the last time I have to update this. Date: 2008-03-22 Dont buy Samsung TVs We purchased the Samsung DLP TV about 9 months back. The TV failed in first week of Feb 2008. Samsung "certified" field service technician worked on the TV for 6 weeks, bringing 1 part every week to change & test. He had no idea what was wrong. Then he said the TV had to be replaced since it was under warranty. Then Samsung didn't approve a TV replacement for many days after this. Once they finally approved the replacement, they did not commit to delivering the replacement TV in anytime soon. Many calls to customer service over several weeks got the same response - "we dont know when we can deliver the TV & we cant do anything about it". I am still waiting for the replacement TV and it has been nearly 2 months since the DLP TV failed. Date: 2008-03-20 unbelievable tv & service I was a little nervous in purchasing this tv online from amazon after reading the reviews. I can't believe how well it turned out. Delivery service - I was not excited when I found out the Ceva/Eagle would be delivering my Tv. I was thinking that I would be lucky to get it by April and in one piece. I placed my order on 1 March and it was to be shipped out 6 March and expected delivery was to be 17 March. Well I got my tv on 14 March. There was even a mix up with the delivery location, Ceva went out of their way, literally 400 mi, to get me my tv. I can't complain about them they did great. The delivery people even did the white glove service, came in took it out of the box, plugged it in made sure it worked, was willing to take away the trash too. the tv - Wow! No problems with the halo effect or any thing else. I have it hooked up to HD already and the picture could not be better. I can't wait for football season to start. I can't wait to watch some blu-ray on it. It has good picture from all reasonable angles. conclusion - Based on the reviews it looks like you have a 50/50 shot with the delivery service working out. Maybe I am the lucky one or maybe Ceva is getting their act together, I am not sure. So you have to decide. The tv is great I don't think I would have purchased a different one. You can't beat the price on this tv, it is way cheaper than any lcd of the same price and it is cheaper than the non-led version offered in the stores.
