Date: 2007-11-25 Terrific--After One Year I've had this set for exactly one year and it is terrific. Unbelievable Picture! Great remote with 3 sets of buttons for favorites. Very easy to use and set up. Quick on/off. Sound is OK. When I bought it at Black Monday last year, I was worried it would not live up to expectations, or that the 720p would not have the fine definition that I wanted. But it is a great set...would not hesitate to buy another. Date: 2007-08-07 Hard to beat for the price Honestly, you cannot beat it for the price. It has a great picture through both my Comcast digital cable box and my ReplayTV (DVR). DVDs look awesome and my Xbox (original) does too. I read the reviews before purchasing and was hesitant based on the reports of poor service support, but for the price I figured why not give it a shot. I've had the set for a month now and other than the few gotchas listed below, I really enjoy it. The 'gotchas': 1. It's HD-Ready versus having a built-in HD tuner. 2. My Comcast universal remote would not work with it. Westinghouse seems to have poor support for universal remotes. 3. The remote sensor on the tv seems to be very weak. The remote that came with it and my universal remote take several attempts to power it on and off. Although I like the one reviewer's comment about feeling like Harry Potter waving his wand. :) These are minor irritations given the price and picture quality. For $430, I'm very happy with the purchase. Date: 2007-04-25 Do Not Buy Westinghouse LCD TV's My LTV-32W1 broke 1 month out of warranty. It turns out that Westinghouse does not have authorized service centers. Several TV repair shops wouldn't even look at it because they can't get parts. One shop finally took it but returned it after a month, unable to get parts. Westinghouse themselves don't even sell parts, check their webite. Date: 2007-01-09 Westinghouse Hits the Mark I purchased this television one year ago and it has been flawless. I did a great amount of research prior to purchasing this set and was convinced that for the money it was a deal. I have not been disappointed to date. While I paid more a year ago it was and still is worth the money. It works exceptionally well with DTV in HD. The colors are crisp and the picture is clear. Date: 2006-12-08 Main board burnout in 14 months I purchased this new at the end of July 2005. Main board started to go bad at the end of September 2006. Not many hours on the TV, and was not in use at all for 2 of the 14 months. Main board needs to be replaced. Have been trying to get the part for a month now to fix. Part was supposed to be here Dec. 2, now company tells us not until Jan. 4. Cost to fix, $400.00. Company is difficult to work with and securing replacement parts is proving to be almost impossible. * Price is subject to change. |
