Sylvania's 20-inch, flat-screen 6520FDE TV/DVD player combination unit is a compact combo unit ideal for the bedroom, kitchen, den, or kids' room. The 6520FDE features stereo speakers, front-panel audio/video inputs for your camcorder, VCR, or gaming device, and a headphone jack accessible from the front panel for private or late-night viewing.The 6520FDE's Pure Flat picture tube produces a great picture and minimizes undesirable reflections and image distortions typical of common curved CRT televisions. A convenient front-panel menu button simplifies setup even if you misplace the remote control, and the unit's 181-channel drift-free PLL tuner offers auto station setting to get you up and running as quickly as possible.The DVD / CD player supports CD-R and CD-RW discs, so you can listen to all your favorites, including your MP3s. You can also scan through movies at 100x normal speed, store up to 10 bookmarks per disc for easy access at a later point, and view DVDs in slow motion, in both forward and reverse.Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals from DVDs can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

Worked great for two weeks, then...
Worked great for two weeks, then it has developed an annoying high-pitched "hum". I'm going to return it.

You get what you pay for...
I got this TV in exchange for the Toshiba 14 inch combo (MD14FN1) which I had returned under a warranty plan SIX times before the "best" mall store would replace it. Same problem: the DVD player malfunctioned, but not at the store. I resorted to videotaping the problem. When I received this TV I thought they'd given me an open box item - the packing was damaged and there is no product registration card. BUT - that's how they all come. I buy widescreen movies and switch back and forth between letterbox and full screen. On this TV that feature doesn't work at all! Followed the instructions to the letter with no success. However, I did buy a warranty for this one, so I am doing research before this TV (inevitably) malfunctions, and I'll ask for a reliable replacement.
PROS
Nice picture, headphone jack, and maybe it will last a few months before I have to go back to the mall store. The Toshiba malfunctioned monthly.

Sylvania products break often and early
Do not buy this product. Do not buy any Sylvania products. The DVD player will break several times before and after the one year warranty has expired. My family purchased a Sylvania TV/DVD combo and have had nothing but trouble with it. The TV is fine, but the DVD player breaks every 5-6 months. We have only had it a year and a month and already it has been in the shop twice. Labor is not covered by the way. Do not waste your money!

Amazon=good, Sylvania=good, webotbetterdeals.com= HORRENDOUS
DO NOT BUY THIS REFURBISHED THROUGH WEGOTBETTERDEALS.COM. But, do buy it through Amazon directly. After a month of returns, credit card disputes, and lots of name calling from wegotbetterdeals customer reps, I finally got a refund (thanks to Citibank) and bought this TV new. So far, it works well, looks good, and seems like a nice find for the money. It isn't the most solidly built thing I've seen, but there's no indicaton of trouble.

It works well for the $
I got it for 179.00 Nice picture, good small graphic display of channel #s when searching (does not cover the whole screen like the Toshiba model). I also like the remote that could be aimed in any direction and the TV picks up the signal. Weaknesses include no channel recall ( go back to last channel), 2) remote buttons layout is not really well thought out like (Panasonic or Sony) but acceptable, 3)DVD does not play JPEG or WMA files, 4)no input plugs on the back of tv like the panasonic or toshiba model. Then again what will you be permanently hooking up? Everything is included :) More postitives than weaknesses. Definetly recommend it. Panasonic 20inch TV combo costs $50 more - looks and acts about the same except for the weaknesses listed for the sylvania. Toshiba 20 TV combo is just like the Panasonic as far as the features but has more tube hum when muted when compared side to side. Thats my review - hoped it helped.
