Prepare to spend extra money.
Even though I was very happy with the purchase of a SONY TV, WEGA...With excellent quality image and color definition, the truth now is that all that is gone. Yes, after spending over $500 in a SONY product I found out that now I have to spend an extra $250 for the power supply repair. Now, after contacting several repair technicians, the answer was that this was a common malfunction in most SONY TV's, specially in the WEGA type. Contacting Sony the answer was that they agreed that that was a common problem. Even though I puchased this TV exactly 3 years ago and thinking that the product will give me a good ten years, like one of my older TV's. With no extended warranty which will be also an extra cost to the purchase and by the time the event would have happened the warranty would have expired. The only thing that Sony could do was give me the names of the places that I could send to repair so I can spend more money on THEIR original parts. Knowing this, my faith in purchasing the brand name: SONY, as a quality product, will be now a myth.

WONDERFUL TV
I highly recommend this TV. Everything all the other reviewers have said about this TV's picture quality are echoed by me. I didn't realize how poor my TV picture quality was with the old set. It's a new experience when I watch favorite TV shows or movies.
Two drawbacks --like others have said, the sound. It's not horrible, but I am considering buying some type of audio system, but my room is small and I have little room.
And, the weight is huge. I would not have managed it. Had to call in my younger, stronger nephew to do the lifting and then it was difficult.
But overall -- I'd buy it again!

Almost perfect....
So many great things to say about this t.v., but I'll be brief. First off the picture quality is tops, especially when viewing DVDs or playing video games. If your not happy with what you see, there are more than enough controls which allow you to fine tune it to your liking. The flat screen offers consitent brightness and clarity from corner to corner, and with a reduced glare. And the front panel video inputs make it a snap to connect temporary items like a video camera.

So what keeps this t.v. from getting 5 starts? Considering that televsion is an audio as well as visual experience, the speakers fall a little short of what you'd expect. Often times during typical use, the sound is flat. The only exception being when I hooked up my Sega Dreamcast. Then the sound quality was deep, rich, and expansive. Why can't the t.v. sound this way during regular viewing?

My other complaint is with the remote control. While ergonomic remotes are becoming the standard, Sony chose to offer the typcialy clumsy square shape. The other problem is that the Sony remote feels too light and cheap that I worry it won't hold up very long. A day in the life of a remote in my home means being sat on and dropped repeatedly.

Speakers and remote aside, you won't be disappointed in this television. If not for these two complaints, I would have gladly given the WEGA 5 stars.
