User Submitted Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2-Channel A/V Surround Home Theater Receiver (Black) Reviews Date: 2010-03-12 Don't be fooled - buying an Onkyo receiver would be a mistake I recently purchased this item and will be returning it, however, in general my experience is with the previous TX-SR605 and TX-SR606. Simply put, if you plan on keeping a receiver for more than a year don't bother with an Onkyo. Don't take my word for it, enter Onkyo HDMI problem into google and spend the week reading tales of consumers woe. Although they are aware of the problem (how could they not be), repair depots don't stock the parts (which can take weeks to get to the service center). If you do buy one and need to get it serviced be prepared for extraordinarily surly customer service and extensive wait times. Again, don't take my word for it. Use google. Stories of bad customer service and multiple repairs to units are everywhere. My personal experience is that both receivers have failed. My further research has shown me these are not isolated incidents. Date: 2010-03-09 Onkyo Vs Denon I was a really big fan of Onkyo, infact I still have my first power amp the Denon M282 and my son still uses it to this day. The new Onkyo's just does'nt hit the same mark as the new Denons. For a few dollars more you can get a really good Denon such as the AVR1910 a good price and have a far beter receiver. If you check out some of the deals on line such as the coupon from exponj (WS901X5750) you can get the denon for just a few dollars more then the Onkyo's and have a receiver the can do two zones and have a far better flexability for any upgrades you would what do to down the road. Build and sound quality is far better on the Denon. Date: 2010-03-08 Awesome Receiver Awesome!!! This Onkyo TX-SR607 receiver does it all... The sound and picture quality is outstanding. I purchased this unit so I could bi-amp my front speakers and also utilize the many HDMI connections in my home theater arrangement. By-amping the front speaker was a great improvement in music listening and overall sound quality. This is my second Onkyo receiver and I found it offers plenty of power, awesome sound quality, numerous features, and the price was right for me. I purchased it from Amazon vender "One Call". The shipping was very fast. It arrived within days of my purchased. Prices are lower if you go through Amazon instead of going directly to One Call. I have no regrets!!! Date: 2010-03-08 Great Starter Reciever... nice upgrade for my previous onkyo reciever, from my 5.1 to 7.2, hdmi input from 2 to 6..solid, noticeable clear sound output, with more power.. LOVE it. highly recommended.. i just bought mine to other seller with a free iphone dock and also free shipping for the amount of 360$, it's a steal...
