Date: 2009-12-23 all good except battery I love it except the 6 hour battery life which is what I was looking forward to is not true for the one I got. Date: 2009-12-04 Great portable DVD Player! Our last portable DVD player lasted four years. I love the fact that this one has a battery backup and that you can pause a DVD and pick up where you left off - we did not have this feature before and what a pain to get a movie back to where you left off. This player is light and the picture is great! The controls are easy to use. About the only feature missing is a way to hang this player on the back of a seat so the child does not need to hold it in order to watch it. Other than that it has been great. Date: 2009-12-01 good portable player Swivel screen that can go tablet style is a great feature the soft keys under the screen vs hard keys all over works very well Battey life is excellent. The battery is pretty much the whole bottom which I found helps keep the unit in your hands - less top heavy. overall very pleased and so are the kids. Date: 2009-12-01 Seems like good value The unit seems well constructed. They could dispense with the speakers as they sound horrible, but the presence of two audio jacks is nice. Placing the controls at the bottom of the screen is a good idea. The unit end up being quite bulky and thick with the battery attached, though. Overall, it plays well. Date: 2009-11-21 Good for what's out there! This is a great portable DVD player. The pink model was nice (it was cheaper than the other colors) and I like the fact that the battery covered the bottom of the player and did not stick out in the back. The top of the machine was plastic, fairly light (in weight). The previous model was heavier and had a textured top that felt solid. The display screen does swivel 180 degrees, but doesn't hold very well at any other position in between 0-180. The remote was bigger than most portables. It does not have a 'Power ON/OFF' button, although it has a dedicated Skip, and FFW. Also, the keys are not glow in the dark or lighted. The touch screens worked, needing very little pressure to use them. The engine was quiet, except when initially loading a DVD. The sound was very loud, the loudest I have heard on similar portables, esp. the Toshiba. Toshiba SDP93S 9-Inch Portable DVD Player, (Black with Silver Trim) I was considering between those two models and I chose the Sony because it could play a variety of DVD formats. The Toshiba cannot play DVD R+ discs, so anything burned on a DVD recorder or camera won't play if using dvd +r. The Sony handles all of the formats. No Divx and not having an SD slot was not as important to me as disc compatibility. * Price is subject to change. |
