Date: 2009-11-05 Even an "oldie" can do it! I was ready to ship it back several times while trying to program it but I am persistent and was so proud of myself when I finally got it! I am 87 years old and use it for recording mostly my soaps and movies that are on at conflicting times. The only complaint I have is that the computer is very hard to see for someone like me with macular degeneration. Other than that I am well satisfied with the recorder and also with Amazon. I have had only good experiences in shopping with them. Date: 2009-11-03 Magnavox ZV457MG9 Purchased unit to play back older VHS Movies through S-Video Cable.(Clearer Picture) Also to record TV programs with DVD Recorder.. Was VERY HAPPY & AMAZED to find that all signals (VHS, DVD & TV Tuner) are able to be played back through the HDMI cable to TV. Makes VHS playback sharpest picture you can get. I have 1 cable running to my TV from this machine. (No Need for the S-Video cable) This allows hook up to be very easy, very fast and makes for nice neat appearance. (1 cable vs 3,4 or 5) DVD recording play back is very SHARP and CHRISP. Sound is perfect too. Having the DTV tuner lets me record DTV chanels too. Only feature I found that was a little problem, was the Auto Clock setting. Clock did not keep correct time when in Auto Mode. Changed Clock setting to Manual Mode and clock keeps perfect time now.. Date: 2009-10-27 MAGNAVOX DVD/ VCR COMBO I've looked at and used a several DVD/VCR combos over the last couple of years but this is the best so far. I liked it so much I bought a second a few weeks later. Very easy to program. Date: 2009-10-12 A very good recorder. I've used this recorder to record all my digital camcorder tapes to DVD and the picture quality is as good as veiwing the original tape. I have also taped many TV shows and never put more than 3 hours on a DVD. Picture reproduction is excellent. If you record on long play the picture quailty suffers. I use the DVD-RW discs and have erased and rerecorded on one disc at least 10 times with no loss of picture quality. Once you get the hang of it, timer recording is fairly easy to do. I haven't used the VCR function yet, but plan on transferring those tapes to DVD. On the whole I am very happy with this product. This recorder is identical to the Toshiba and several other products on the market. The instruction manuals are identical, except for the name in them. Date: 2009-10-09 Doesn't keep accurate clock time... I've had this for a couple of months and it won't keep the correct time... I reset and check a day or two later and the clock is several hours off. So I can't use the timer function to program it to record from the TV, I have to record manually. Cost way too much to be this cheaply made. Bummer... * Price is subject to change. |
