User Submitted 3 Port Smart HDMI Switch Reviews Date: 2010-03-09 Didn't work at all I was very excited to find a switch this cheap. Well... unfortunately you get what you pay for. The setup was easy. Three HDMI cables in one side and one going to the television. After setting it up i turned on my first device and the light came on indicating a detected source. However, it didn't output any signal to my television. I tried multiple devices including: ps3, xbox 360, DVI, and my laptop. None of them worked at all through this device. Unfortunately, no matter how i swapped cables and ports on the back of my TV it wouldn't work. Guess I need to find another switch (or get a new television with more HDMI ports :D ). Date: 2010-03-09 Works perfectly and is low priced. If you need an HDMI switcher but don't need it to be ridiculously overpriced, this is the switcher for you. I am using it for my XBOX 360 and Phillips DVD player and it works flawlessly going into my HP 42" Plasma. I don't need to use the remote, because the priority system takes care of automatically switching to the appropriate source. The remote is nice to have if you have devices that constantly supply power over the HDMI cable, which would confuse the priority system. I'm sure if I ever need the remote functionality, I can just program it into my Harmony remote and have it work automatically. Date: 2010-03-08 Works as advertised This product works as advertised. Simple to use just plug in your HDMI cables and the switch does the rest. No need for DC power because it works with out it. Date: 2010-03-08 Worked without any problems. I used the device the connect my PS3, a DirectTV satellite receiver, and my standard Sony DVD player to one HDMI input on my TV. It works flawlessly. The device automatically connects the device which is powered on. If more than one of the above are powered on, it connects automatically to the last device that was powered on. I have had the device for a year now with no problems. I have never used the AC/DC power plug that came with it, nor have I used the remote control. I was a little hesitant becuase it was so inexpensive, but I have had no problems and highly recommend it. The small included instruction sheet was in broken English but was not necessary at all. Date: 2010-03-07 Great product at a great price I don't normally add reviews for products on Amazon, but I loved how easy it was to go from unpacking the switch to using it and I loved the design and thought put into it. Couple of things that might help if you are comparison shopping. PROS 1. Unlike some of the other HDMI switches out there, this product does not need an extra power supply and is able to draw from the HDMI cable. One less power cable. 2. The smart switching works as described and lives up to it's claims. I currently have a roku on priority 2 & a playstation on priority 1. If you have 2 devices that are always on, the Smart switch is not going work and you'll have to rely on the remote. However, if you just have 1 device that is always on (the roku in my case), just ensure that that device has the lowest priority amongst all devices connected to the switch. 3. I also like that it is small enough that it can tucked away behind the TV and not add to the clutter. 4. Price point! Nothing else comes even close at triple the price point of this switch! CONS 1. If you have 2 devices that are always on, the Smart switch is not going work as desired and you will have to rely on the remote. A Cable box and a roku is probably a common combination that will hit this issue. * Price is subject to change. |
