Pretty Good for the price...
So I must say the TV is pretty big!!! For the price that I bought it for it is well worth it. Obviously it's not plasma or lcd but it still is pretty good for a dlp. I have directv so i do get hd channels and the hd channels are pretty nice. It becomes amazing though, when you play stuff on ps3. When the tv uses the full 1080p it is really amazing.
I give it a three star because i had problems with it from day 1. The sound came out distorted and it sounded very funny. So i called amazon and they told me i needed to contact samsung. So i contacted samsung and they brought me a repair guy within about 2 weeks. It seems to be fixed but we will have to see. It's just not comforting knowing you have a brand new tv and it comes with a problem.
I figure I got what i paid for. I got the tv at the lowest possible price so i guess it's ok. To get a 61' tv for $1700 is pretty good. Especially cause it is led and you don't need to replace the bulb every so often it makes it worth it.
If you want a big tv with pretty good quality this is a pretty good tv. Like i said it's not plasma but if you are willing to pay for it go for plasma. I went for size over quality(not that the quality is bad on this tv) but i figured size is better than quality cause most people can't tell anyway...

Best value for the money
What a great TV the Samsung 61 is. Terrific colors and very sharp details . It was a real pleasure watching the Masters on the HD channel with the rich greens and other colors coming through. Incredible. I put it next to a 42 plasma and everyone agreed they thought the picture was better. You can't beat the price for quality either. This cost $1000 to $2000 less for comparable LCD or Plasma of the same size. This model even can play the new 3D movies! Very god purchase. Amazon was great too with price and delivery.

Complete Satisfication
The whole process was a homerun!! From ordering, PRICE, shipping and especially a great TV. If there was something to complain about I would include it in this review---there simply wasn't. Would recommend Amazon to anybody and do so when asked. Couldn't be more pleased with the performance of our Samsung DLP.

Samsung Right on the Mark!!!
The TV set I'm reveiwing Samsung HL-T6187S DLP LED 61" Ok.. i was a little uneasy about buying off Amazon I read almost all the reviews before i purchased and there were some that had trouble right out of the box and other that seemed to have a failure after a period of time and Some with problems getting a repair person to fix the problem and had no TV for months in some cases. And many that had no trouble at all and loved the picture and features of this set.
What gave me the courage to buy from Amazon was. I found out, i could buy a service plan from sears that covered me 100% if you purchase it within 14 days after you accept the TV from amazon.. Contact your local sears electronics salesmen and make sure he would be willing to sell you one.. Mine did and It was a 170 bucks cheaper than the one you buy dirrectly from Samsung and the perks of a sears plan...a single pixcil fails they come out and fix it...I dont call the mfg'er during that first yr and hope its fixed..I dont wait 2 weeks for a service contractor to come and check it out..we all know Sears when it comes to service plans, their great!! ok back to Amazons end of the set...
The TV came within a timely fashion... I had white glove delivery.. and i tipped the guys 20 bucks, even thou i didnt have to. I have had the TV now for over a month.. and its Flawless... I have put it thru its paces.. I used a high end up converter.. picture excellent... I used a PC with setting of 1920 x 1080.... perfect picture.. and i borrowed a Blue Ray disc player from a bud.... And man.. OH MY GOD!! Awesome Picture... The detail is unreal... Now.. Not to many people know or understand the DLP LED Technology... NO Heat... NO BULBS TO FAIL... NO COLOR WHEEL TO ALINE... sales people everywhere before i bought the TV were like.... Oh DLP is out.. get yourself a plasma or LCD.... but man im telling you... NO Pixcilation you can use this TV as a monitor for your PC the color is awesome I have a bright Room and the contrast comes thru perfect... I have had several people ewwww and ahhhh over the picture while they were viewing a movie.. I cant say enough about this TV..
A word of caution... If you buy this TV and Save yourself a boat load of money... and you cover your TV with a Sears service plan... and you have a great video collection.... You may never get up off the couch again because you'll see things in your movies you never saw before and you'll be rivited to your seat.... I hope i covered many of the questions your looking for... Enjoy!!!

HLT6187 fits our needs
Samsung HLT6187SAX 61-inch Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV
Our 24'x26' kitchen/family room addition was designed to have a big screen mounted at a 45 degree angle in one corner. We have been waiting for 3 years for the manufacturers to decide what they wanted to be when they grow up (plasma, LCD, ?) Trusting the combined wisdom of the Amazon customer reviews, we chose the Samsung HLT6187SAX. Given that our interim solution was a 27-inch CRT, it is hard to imagine how we would not be satisfied with the DLP and in fact we are thrilled.
The delivery guy was great. He helped me set the new TV on the stand and subtly coached me to wait for it to reach room temperature (the outside temperature was still in the 20's in this part of Michigan) before turning on the power. (This is what the instruction manual says to do and it allowed him to begin his homeward trip sooner) After waiting impatiently for a few hours, I punched the remote button and everything worked perfectly. The screen is comfortable to view from any location in the room and no problems with the viewing angles. I plugged into an existing low end surround sound system and it gets the job done. Maybe a replacement will be a result of the tax stimulus check? The only complaint I can find is that the autoprogram pulls in a bunch of new channels from the cable. The mechanics of deleting them, to make channel surfing more enjoyable, is cumbersome - it took me about an hour. With the amazing quality of the digital signal, we have not been motivated to contact the cable company to get the high definition package. Maybe we will save that treat for the next NCAA tournament.
Bottom line, we are very pleased with the value of our purchase.
