Date: 2008-06-01 Samsung 61 inch DLP television Couldn't be happier with our new Samsung TV. Incredible color and clarity. Love watching sporting events on HD. Date: 2008-05-29 only issue - off axis viewing Great picture, decent sound, all the right hookups and a great deal. The only issue with this tv, as with all rear projections, is off-axis viewing. Sitting to the side, lower or higher reduces the image quality. Date: 2008-05-25 Nothing but Amazing I got my HDTV on November 9th, 2007...paid only $1899 for it through Amazon (Tiger Direct) - there was a misprint, but they honored it anyway. I set it up and made room - LOTS of room for this giant. I let it warm up to room temperature for about 24 hours. It was about 10°F at the time of delivery. Turned it on and put my HD-DVD player to the test watching David Gilmour in concert from his 2006 World Tour (of which I got to see in person in Chicago) and it felt like I was right back in the venue watching him again. Hooked up to my Kenwood VR-5900 and 7.1 Channel Surround Sound - I was blown away. Utterly amazing and have watched none better. About Christmas time, we had an issue, but it was not with the TV. The cable line somehow got voltage running through it and it damaged the LED Light Engine. I contacted customer support for repair (got the 5 year extended warranty as well) and they came and picked it up on January 2nd. They tried fixing everything, ports, wiring, different electric parts but could not get it fixed after 30 days. Needless to say, I was a little pissed at Samsung...my repair shop tried to tell Samsung that it was the LED Light Engine that was not working properly...but they would not replace the Light Engine. That was to my benefit as I wouldnt want a brand new TV that had been rigged up with a bunch of new parts. Samsung finally replaced my TV on February 3rd and I got it in my door on February 15th. Since then, I have had absolutely no issues (and the cable company found the problem with the voltage in the line - their error - frayed cable near electrical wiring) and it works perfectly. There is not one reason that I can think of to not buy this tv as every effect and every process works as it should and with utterly shocking quality. If not for my voltage issue, I would have been jumping up and down about this tv months ago. Just wanted to make sure it was going to do what it says it will do. It does. LED LIGHT ENGINE - 20+ Years??? NO BRAINER! Get this TV now! Date: 2008-05-09 6 months in Compared to my old Panasonic 53" projection the picture is a dream, but it's quirky. Had the Blue Halos fixed, does have rainbow effect on bright light sources, screen is bowed up about 1/2" at the top right, the occasional crackling from the case is very disconcerting. Twice it has refused to turn on - unplugging "reset" or whatever and then it worked. Hooking up the PC through the HDMI cable is fine, but through VGA it gets some not supported error. The sound sucks unless you turn bass way down, price you pay for compactness. Compares favorably picture-wise to friends smaller high end LCD's for nearly half the price - for the $1800 its really hard to beat the value for a 61". If it lasts a couple years until the next latest greatest thing i'll be happy Date: 2008-04-26 ROCK ON This television is fantastic! After a little set-up and tweaking the set looks great... Blacks are BLACK and color saturation is breathtaking. I did see some rainbow in the Avia disk but only on a fully white display. If I had to choose again, the outcome would be the same. Great product!
