Hopefully it was the only Lemon - It was!
Received our Samsung HLT6187SAX 61" Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV on 1/29. Didn't turn it on for a week until DISH set it up. The TV lasted only 3 weeks and started with color changes from red to green. Thought it was the DISH receiver and requested a replacement. Before I could get the replacement the TV started blacking out for 3-4 seconds and being on for about 2 minutes. Amazon has replaced the product so we will see what happens. Maybe it was just a lemon..... hopefully. On this experience I'm going to have to rate it low. I'll keep the replacement and see what happens and will re-rate later.

Okay it s March 21st and so far so good. The TV seems to be performing as described. Has great color but have noticed that some HD doesn't look as clear as I would think HD would look but that could be my DISH service. Since my last problem I will wait a little longer to give a thumbs up.

November 2008 - We have now had the TV 8 months now and wow! What a great TV. It has not disappointed us at all. So as my title says.... The first one just was a lemon. Recommended!

No issues with my HL-T6187SAX
I've been reading all the reviews on here, and the comments over on the AVS Forums. It seems that a small percentage of people were having issues with this set, especially early builds. I just recieved mine as a replacement for an earlier "S" series DLP that had gone bad. My set arrived with a build date of 01/2008, and the latest 09/2007 firmware. It does not have any of the common issues such as "Green Push", "Halo effect", or "Poor Geometry". I'd say the picture is failry similar to my old lamp DLP, which is very good. All in all, the set is a very nice upgrade of my old set.

Another wonderful product from Samsung.
I've been shopping off and on for a new TV to replace my Hitachi set I had purchased in 2004. The Hitachi set was a spur of the moment purchase which I now regret due to numerous, I mean numerous service issues so this time around I was going to do some research.

I have had my eye on a 73" Mitsubishi set for awhile after seeing one at a local Audio / Video store when they first came out and was dead set on getting one. I had almost bought one on several occasions but kept talking myself out of it figuring the price would go down another hundred bucks a month later.

I heard a radio ad today advertising a 20% leap-day sale at H.H.Gregg and decided to swing by after work to see what they were asking for the Mitsubishi sets. I found the set I was looking for but was stopped by a particular Samsung set sitting right next to it. At first I figured it was a plasma or LCD set due to the difference in brightness and at closer inspection found it to be a LED DLP set. Let me tell you if you haven't seen an LED set next to an old-style projection set it's like looking out of your window on a rainy day and looking out of your window on a bright sunny spring day. The colors on the Mitsubishi were dull and gray compared to the bright vivid colors on the Samsung set. My mind was set for months on getting that Mitsubishi set and all that was changed by a simple glimpse of the Samsung set.

If you are in the market for a new projection screen, the Samsung set is the way to go. The Mitsubishi may have a bigger screen but as they say quality not quantity.

Samsung LED DLP vs Mitsubishi 65734 DLP
Originally, I had brought the Mits. 65" 734 from fry's and after a week I still didn't have my TV and they weren't even sure if I was going to get one the next week. All they had was open box 734. Who knows how long that bulb was used... It only has 2,000 to 3,000 hours of bulb life. That's $300 every other year to have the TV to work.

So, I asked the salesman which other brand rear projection would they recommend and they pointed out the Samsung. Went home, did a little research and read a little review and poof I got the TV that night.

The TV is better at home than at the store.
The lighting in your living is darker, so the TV is very bright.
It is also smart too. IF I am watching cable and I turn on my DVD player, the TV automatically switches to DVD mode.
The angles from the TV for viewing is more than enough in my house.

The TV Remote is universal once you program your components 3 digital code.
It is not too Warm or Hot. This TV does not heat up like other HDTV.

61" is pretty big... IT seems smaller at the local store next to other big screen TV.

the good, the bad and ????
The set looks good and the picture is excellent BUT!!!!! THE SET QUITS RESPONDING TO THE REMOTE AFTER ONE HOUR (SOMETIMES LESS) OF OPERATION.
Customer service is difficult and their certified service shops are worse. Requested service on Feb 15 and am still waiting (scheduled for 28th). Questionable quality. Hope this isn't what the future holds.
