DLP TV
The TV arrived on time even though had a bit of trouble coordinating with Eagle Freight. Works great. Has a ton of inputs that made purchasing a new reciever unnecessary. Great picture and sound quality.

Amazing TV with one major caveat.
I finally made my venture into the world of high definition television. I am very happy I finally made this move, it has completely enhanced my TV viewing experience. This is my first high def TV purchase and although I don't regret my purchase too much, I do wish I would have done a bit more research before finally making my decision.

This TV gives a beautiful picture and more inputs then you'll ever need (including HDMI, of coarse, and also USB, which is cool). The television is quite attractive and very slim when compared to other DLP televisions. The TV is very quiet, I can't hear the color wheel or anything else at all. I noticed in other reviews that people talk about straight lines bowing, luckily I don't have this problem.

Like I said, the picture is beautiful... and I mean BEAUTIFUL! My parents have a plasma TV and this DLP is leagues above it as far as picture quality is concerned. This isn't an entirely fair comparison because my parents bought a "budget" 42 inch plasma, which is now over a year old. Higher end plasmas and LCDs look a bit better then this Samsung - but you pay for that. With a budget around $2000.00 I wanted the best bang for the buck I could find and I ended up choosing this TV because of it's size and it's picture quality (especially for this size).

There is a catch to this TV though. You are buying the standard lamp and color wheel DLP if you choose this one. This will bite your wallet in the future because about every 1000-3000 hours you will need to replace the lamp. This wouldn't be so bad if the replacement lamps weren't so expensive ($200-$400). I have heard some owners getting up to 16,000 hours with their bulbs, but that's extremeley rare, typically you're looking at less then 5000 hours. I purchased my TV at Best Buy and I purchased the service plan with it so it's not too bad now, but in 4 years I'm on my own. I sorta hope the TV goes out at the end of the 4 years and I get a new LED DLP >=]

I wish I could give this TV my highest recommendation because of the price/quality, but it scores low in value. The reason I score it low on value is because for just a couple hundred dollars more you can get LED version of the same exact TV. LED DLPs last MUCH longer (20,000 - 60,000 hours) so you will save a lot of money in the long run. Also you wont have to deal with the lamp going out at exactly the wrong time. I have a feeling that lamps are going to become harder to find in the future and that they may cost more because of that. I hope that's not that case though.

Unfortunately buying a TV these days is a lot like buying a home computer. Gone are the days of CRT TVs that really never became outdated (until now). Now when you buy a TV it can become outdated nearly as soon as you bring it home, like in my case. Oh well, this TV looks beautiful, my XBOX 360 games now look amazing and for that I can't complain. I still LOVE this TV!

** UPDATE **
I recently learned that if you set the TVs mode from dynamic (default) to standard then you will get much more life out of your bulb (1000 - 2000 more hours). Personally standard looks better in my opinion because it's much more natural. When I switch to dynamic now it seems overly bright and a little washed out. However, dynamic mode is great for video games.

Samsung 61" DLP thin screen 1080p
This is the most awesome TV and for this price unbeleivable! For just over $1500 and surely less than half what you would pay for a LCD or plasma this is well worth the money. And the best part is I can almost definately expect it to outlast either of those. I did get a theatre type sound system to go with it though because as I suspected the sound quality was horrible. If turned up to a level that was comfortable for listening the speakers actually vibrated but I expected that so was not disapointed. I have never seen this Tv model at this price in any other store on line or not which is why I opted to buy it at this time and I did not regret it. As for the other reviewers who experienced some kind of bowing effect, I don't know what they are talking about. It's even all the way to the top and the case seemed strong enough to me.

Awesome Price for a Great Display
Wasn't sure about buying something so big on the internet but it was a deal. Just under $1800 shipped to my house when at Best Buy the same TV was selling for $2250 before tax and then getting it to my house myself.

The GOOD:
-TV is VERY bright especially for a DLP
-Viewing angle was surprising, it looks great from every angle
-HD looks incredible, SD looks decent. Some SD content looks better than others(DVD's look excellent) making me think its the quality of the SD rather than the television
-SO MUCH TV for so LITTLE MONEY

The BAD:
-The picture was skewed on my first television I received. the edges were slanted up making a subtle (but noticeable on any menu screen)U shape. The skewing isn't noticeable while watching movies or regular TV. CNN news ticker or ESPN's sports headlines at the bottom make it much easier to see.
-Audio is quiet and not good quality (but who cares) if you are buying this TV, buy a surround sound system

*I called Amazon and they immediately shipped me another TV to replace the first FOR FREE. The 2nd TV had the exact same problem (possibly worse)
*Called Amazon again and they are sending me a 3rd TV (again all FOR FREE). They are inspecting this TV though before they ship it to me to make sure it does not have a skewed screen this time.

If I am still not completely satisfied with the TV, I will receive a refund, but it will be totally worth it if they get me a TV that is perfect straight across.

As for now I've been enjoying this TV for a month and haven't been let down. However I am a perfectionist and expect a perfect display with no skewing. I will update when I receive my 3rd (hopefully perfect)TV.

***Update (Oct 16, 2007)***
Amazon said the problem was more widespread than previously thought and were not able to send me a 3rd TV until further research was done on the item. They said they would allow me to work with Samsung customer service to get a repairman at my house to try to fix the bowing and would extend my refund availability time until that was complete. Samsung customer service said I will have a technician contact me in the next 24-48 hours to try to fix it. I will update with final results.
