YIKES!
I had this little dvd player for a year and it would sometimes freeze, and in order to unfreeze it I would have to skip ahead or go back. Tonight it popped-smoke was coming out of it-scared the bejeez out of me! I ran to the breaker turned everything off and am throwing this thing in the metal trash bin outside. I think you get what you pay for. Target has a sale on a Philips VCR/DVD combo, and I think i'm going with that one.

Great for School Classroom
Let me first say that my four star rating is in comparison to other players of equal price. I'm not saying this product has the durability of a high-end player, but for what it costs, I don't see how you could do better.
I bought this unit to attach to equipment already in my classroom, so that I can occasionally make use of educational videos without spending a lot of money. Since the player rests on a table that is about as tall as my hip, it is really nice to have the top opening and controls, so I don't have to bend over to read the buttons before I can proceed. The tiny remote would be easy to lose, so I keep it ALWAYS in one particular place in my desk when it is not in use. However, during play I love the size of the remote, because it slides easily into my pocket, making it easily accessible to me, and impossible for students to steal or remove batteries. One drawback: the remote buttons often have to be pressed multiple times to get results. I think it's worth it. For any institutional setting in which the user looks down at the DVD player, I really recommend this model.

Little Money - Good Value!
I purchased this dvd player about 2 years ago to have a dvd player in the bedroom and recently discovered that this can be used as a pal/ntsc player for all regions! AMAZING - saved me from buying another piece of equipment - while the back of the player says region 1, I was able to play and view perfectly dvd's from all regions 1-0...so no more missing out on great movies from around the world because of some silly region encoding.

Disappointed
This DVD player is definitely cheap but it's cheap for a reason. It's loud and my remote did not work. I would return it but it's too much of a hassle. If you decide to buy this, good luck and I hope your remote works. To be fair, I do use the DVD player but it is a pain using it without a working remote. Hope this helps.

NOT A "ALL REGION" DVD
This is not a review of the DVD. But a warning about the description. This DVD come up when you search "region free DVD" and notice the wording "One region". To me that sounds like it works in all region. It is really a "region one" player.
