Toshiba DLP Projection TVs utilize a Digital Fine Pitch Screen. This screen helps create crisp HD resolution with its super fine screen pitch. It also has an Anti-Glare Coating to reduce unwanted reflections from ambient room light, which helps increase contrast for deeper blacks.A Toshiba Integrated Television has both QAM and ATSC tuners included to enable the set to receive digital cable-in-the-clear signals, as well as digital terrestrial broadcasts.CableClear utilizes the Digital 3D/YC Comb Filter to compare frames and determine the existence and extent of video noise. It then applies the needed amount of digital video noise reduction, and the appropriate sharpness adjustment to keep the picture clear. This feature now works on RF, composite and S-Video inputs, and can be selected by input.SRS WOW provides more enveloping sound with enhanced bass and better dialog reproduction. StableSound eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels.Channel Labeling allows you to put the Call Letters (e.g., ABC, HBO, etc.) on the screen along with the station numbers, so you always know what channel you're watching. Stereo has a narrow sweet spot.Toshiba integrated HDTVs are Digital Cable ready. They include QAM tuning and a CableCARD slot (formerly called POD). Insert a CableCARD from the local Cable MSO and the TV can receive applicable cable channels without the use of a cable box.

Don't buy Toshiba DLP TV
The lamp on TV went out in 11 months and the second one went out in 13 months just before this christmas. Each LAMP costs me $250-$300. That means you may have to spend such a cost every year (if you made a wrong decision as I did to buy a Toshiba TV)! I only watch TV less than 3 hours/day. The manual's 6000-8000 hours time for the LAMP is compeletly mis-leading. Think second time when you buy a Toshiba TV and check the internet first to see real reviews. Don't trust Toshiba's manuals.

Solid TV for the Money
As someone who has owned this TV for almost 2 years now, it is great. A way better investment than an LCD or plasma (would have had to be much smaller to get it for the same price).

To address some of the alleged negatives, let's start with picture quality. It is great, noticed zero imperfections. BUT, given the size of the screen, you need to be sitting 15-20 feet back with a non-HD signal. If you are sitting 5 feet away, you don't have enough room for a screen this size, regardless of brand. HD picture is phenomenal.

Second, those of you debating between 720p and 1080p should know that nobody is broadcasting in 720p. It may be an issue on Blu-Ray DVDs, but you are splitting hairs on picture quality at that point.

Lamp life is a little over a year
Same issue as everyone else. The lamp life is horrible. Do you think Toshiba did this to sell lamps at $250 a pop? Great way to make extra money. I'm sticking to Plasma and LCD from now on and more then likely wont go with a Toshiba.

Toshiba 56HM66 DLP
These tv's have a bad lamp life and cost about $250 to replace (yourself) Mine went out just after the warranty expired and replacement lamps have a warranty of only 6 month. Don't waste your money buying these tv's.

Good picture, bad lamp life
The picture is very good for the price. I got this a little over a year ago for about $1200. (It can be found for much cheaper than that now)
Just over the one year warranty the lamp on the unit went out. Now I have a tv that has no picture until I cough up the $250 price for a new lamp.
I don't know if I am going to want to have to pay $250 every year to watch t.v. on it. This seems to be a very common complaint with Toshiba rear projection tv's.
