User Submitted Toshiba 72HM196 72-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV Reviews Date: 2008-01-12 VERY GOOD TV!! Excellent TV for the money. I've had mine for over a year and the picture is great. You will not be disappointed with the picture. Watching a blu-ray or HDDVD movie is great. There are only 2 HDMI ports in the back so if you have more than 2 HD devices you'll have to switch it in the back. I personally use it with my PS3 and its just amazing. There is an ethernet port in the back of the TV but it is only for channel guide updates. Overall this is a great TV. Date: 2007-11-13 BUY IT!!!!!!!! My husband bought this TV about a year ago. We initially had a problem with an annoying humming sound, but we contacted customer service and they picked up the TV for service. Sure, it was a bit of an inconvenience, but the sound is gone and TV works great. Despite what some other reviewers have said, the picture quality is excellent. No, it doesn't look good when you have your face only foot away from the screen, but from a NORMAL viewing distance, the image is comparable to high priced LCD and plasma TVs. If you are having problems with the image quality, I suggest you check the setup because you can select various resolutions and you won't receive 1080i unless you specifically select it. The images on the HD channels (including the ones we receive over an antenna from TV stations more than 30 miles away) are so good that they give the illusion of being 3 dimensional. And for those of you who scoff at the "lower" 1080i resolution, keep in mind that at this point nothing is being broadcasted in 1080p format. Furthermore, I've read that the difference between the sharpness of the images in 1080i versus 1080p is basically imperceptible by the human eye. The pixels may be a little less pronounced in 1080p at distances of 8 feet and less but otherwise they basically look the same. So, if you want to spend thousands more for bragging rights about your 1080p TV, good for you. As far as I'm concerned, this Toshiba is one awesome TV for an unbelievable price. Date: 2007-09-29 Great TV for the Price I have had the TV for over a year - picture looks great. Don't know what the reviewer is talking about the TV not having a clear picture. The only issue I have is watching Direct TV where they compress HD channels so much it pixelates when there is a lot of movement on the picture. Date: 2007-09-22 Fabulous Picture and Sound Had mine since April 07 and it's spectacular. I have since looked at many large TV's and mine is as good or better than any I've seen out there. The picture is crystal clear and the sound is fantastic with lows that will vibrate your innards. The blacks on this TV are pitch black, not very dark greens like inferior sets produce. There is no "ghosting" like cheaper sets may produce. This set reeks of quality and I could not be happier with it and its a pure treat to watch. Everyone who sees it wants it. Warning... You will never want to watch sports on anything less..... Date: 2007-08-10 no consumer report review I am a member of consumer reports and under this model it said it was not tested
