Date: 2007-01-09 Great System This system is a great buy. Plenty of inputs, with great sound, Easy to use and setup. Date: 2007-01-09 Excellent system My expectations were exceeded with this system purchase. I was looking for budget priced home theater system for my 12x20 family room and ordered. Setup and sound quality are great, have had no problems and the speaker calibration was easy. I have my computer, VCR, satellite, game system and DVD all connected with no problems. I would purchase this again. Date: 2007-01-06 Can't beat it for the price I'm actually not sure what to think about this item. I have some issues with it, but I'm not sure the issues I have justify a lower rating... Here are some of the issues I have: 1) All the speakers, except the center speaker, come with threaded holes at the back to support wall mounting. Why not the center speaker? I really want to hang it on the wall, but had to build a speacial shelf just for it... What did they save by not including it? Maybe a couple of bucks. I was really disappointed by it. 2) I have some problems with decoding of digital signal from an external media streaming device (zensonic z500) when using a digital connection. It is my understanding that the z500 works fine with other receivers, but not with any Sony receivers. I guess it is not specific to this device, but really disappointing nonetheless. 3) Sound quality seems to be OK, but not very exciting. I really have nothing to compare it with, so I couldn't say how good it is, but it sounds just OK to me. 4) The included calibration microphone is a great idea, but after using it it feels like the surround speakers are under-powered. I haven't figured out yet how to set it up manually. On the good side, the system has plenty of configurable inputs and other than the decoding problem with the Z500, I had no problems using it. If you intend to get a media streaming device that is based on the Sigma chip, I will think twice before getting this (or any other Sony) receiver. Otherwise, it is good value for the money. Date: 2007-01-05 Great Sound! Fairly simple to set up. Menu and instructions a little complicated but not impossible. Easy once you get use to them. Sounds great. Can't turn it up past 40 w/o the upstairs neighbors banging on the floor (goes up to 60). Very pleased with the purchase. Date: 2007-01-04 Sony HT-DDW900 Great receiver. The remote worked well with my other Sony products keeping the number of remotes down. Could use an additional input. More than enough power * Price is subject to change. |
