Great for the price!
This system works perfect for our house. The overall power is a little on the weak side for a large room, but for a smaller room it is just enough. The back connection panel was my selling point, I was able to connect everything we have up to it and use the HDMI switching to switch between the HD cable and our PS3. Also set up the sound for both through optical inputs, works perfect and good sound level for the price.

great
This system was easy to install and setup. I have it in a 20' x 20' room and it sounds great for listening to music at normal volumes and also for watching movies. It is a great value for the money.

Very nice
I love the fact that it has a gazillion input in the back and I was able to hook up everything I own. The sound was quite awesome and I highly recommend this unit.

Excellent Price, Great Quality
I recently purchased this as my first dabble into home theater systems. Not being a big audiophile, but being a huge techno-nerd, I wanted something more than what came with your standard HTiB setup.

Working at a Sony Outlet, I had the ability to test out and go over every fine point of the systems available to me (those within my price range, of course). I knew that I wanted to hook in lots of components, so the all-in-one systems would just not do.

The components I have attached are my Super Nintendo (old school, I know), Nintindo Wii, RCA CRT TV, a DVD player, and my desktop PC. As you can see, lots of inputs.

Every single one of them is connected and working properly.

With the way my system is set up, everything is comming out of a composite video output, as my very ancient tube tv doesn't have any other type of connection.

That being said, if you want to plug in composite and feed out component (or even HDMI), then this isn't the system for you, as it doesn't do any upscaling. With my setup, it didn't matter, but it might in your case.

I had heard many complaints about the quality of the speakers, the wires, and the cables that come with the system. Having hooked up things with digital coaxial, optical, and stereo RCA, I can tell you that the sound quality is superb. The TV and game systems, hooked up with RCA stereo, sounds clear. The DVD player and the Computer, hooked up with digital connections, sound phenomenal, for such a basic, standard setup.

The subwoofer is strong and powerful right out of the box, and is active powered, so it has a strong, rich sound to it.

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an introduction to a home theater system. With the way the speakers and connections are setup, each piece is customizable and upgradable. If you dislike the speakers, plug in another pair that you like. Like the speakers and all your components, but want more power or higher fucntionality? It's a simple replacement of the receiver. I plan on doing some nice upgrading to this system over the years.

It's OK at best
I was needing a new surround sound system with HDMI passthrough. I found this Sony; and since my TV is Sony, I assumed it would work together nicely. They do. However...
The speaker setup is "weird" - jazz, concert hall, etc. What??
The subwoofer is too boomy. I have since replaced it with custom built sub which shakes my living room, but I can still hear people talking. The surround-ness of this system is less noticeable than previous system. Overall, if not for the HDMI, my previous sub $100 RCA system sounded better and was a much better value.
