Date: 2005-09-14 WOW!!! I had been looking for a good LCD flat panel TV with computer hookups for months and have noticed that the price on mostly everything I was looking at was between $1600 and up for a 26" screen. But when I saw this for just over $1000.00 for a 32", I had to look more into it. I saw it at CompUSA (at $1699.00) and thought the picture was almost as good as name brands I've looked at, so I ordered it (not through CompUSA) and was amazed at how GREAT the picture was with regular cable. After seeing it hooked up to my HD cable box and watching an HD channel, I was shocked. The HD picture is WOW!!!! As for the computer monitor, it's not the best but it still looks good. I highly recommend getting this TV but would suggest waiting for the newer version with HDMI hookup, this model has DVI, which is being replaced by HDMI. Date: 2005-08-27 Very Disappointing We bought the 32" on July 24, 2005 and it puked on August 25, 2005. Just died, right out of the blue. Screen went black, audio quit. Called Syntax customer service who decided that the tv was dead and not repairable. Told me they would send me a new one, we could then pack up the old one after receiving the new one. It would take 5-6 business days for a new one to arrive. This happened at 6:45 on a Friday. We will now go for at least a week w/o tv b/c of this piece of junk. They faxed me their replacement information to begin the process, and that document tells me that they will not ship a new one until they receive confirmation from their carrier that the old one has been picked up, and to add insult to injury they must have a credit card # so that they can "authorize" the MSRP of the old tv so that they can charge the card for any damage, scratches, etc. once they assess it. In other words, I haven't even received a bill yet for the first tv, and they are going to "authorize" another charge to my card for the 2nd tv. The MSRP for the 2nd tv is $1499, which is $300 more than I paid for it. I will end up with nearly $3000 charged/"authorized" to my card for a tv that lasted one month. Date: 2005-08-25 Syntac Olevia LCD TV Arrived on-time. As per one of the reviews, the TV is excellent. My only problem with it, is that the manual describes a DTV section in the on-screen help that is not available on my TV. The transaction went as promised. Excellent service. Date: 2005-08-24 HDTV for under 2k that works? I'll buy it on a dare - and keep it if it works. Date: 2005-08-18 32" Olevia LCD works great Time Warner Cable came yesterday and installed new box for my new Olevia LCD. I'm no expert on HD TV, but I am more than satisfied with the overall performance of the Olevia. All the factory settings seem fine for me though I did add a little bass to the speakers. I was amazed by the sharpness and color quality on the HD programming. I checked closely for any dead pixels and found none. Maybe they finally fixed the remote problem because mine works perfectly. * Price is subject to change. |
