User Submitted Toshiba 62HM84 62-Inch HDTV-Ready Projection DLP TV Reviews Date: 2008-11-11 Love the TV but buy the extended warranty Well we love this TV bought in 04 but have gone thru 4 bulbs. 2 bulbs the repairman confessed the last was an off brand 'generic' bulb and didn't hold up so insist on the Toshibas. THANK THE LORD we bought the extended 4 year warranty giving us 5 years and they said after the 3rd replacement they would now replace the entire TV. Our friends have the same Tv bought before we bought ours and have only had to replace one bulb and their TV is on 9am to midnight daily. Go figure. I will check this "low" setting aka read the manual. We did buy some $300+ surge protector thing which they said would be murder on the bulbs if we didn't. So happy with Best Buys' warranty and service anyways, they really are excellent with customer service. BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. This one is totally worth it. Date: 2008-11-06 Beware of the lifespan of the lamp I bought Toshiba 62HM84 in May 2005 and already replaced 4 lamps. I really like the picture quality however the cost to replace the lamp is too expensive. Luckily I bought the extended warranty which covered the lamp replacements. We set it low light and turned on about 6 hour/day. This is the most expensive DLP HDTV unit. I will avoid buying Toshiba brand in the future.Toshiba 62HM84 62-Inch HDTV-Ready Projection DLP TV Date: 2008-11-03 Had mine since 10/04 and had sooooo many problems Right out of the box I had a 2 inch black bar across my screen. After 2 months and refusal to replace the TV Toshiba finally sent a repair man to fix it. That's not all. I have replaced 3 bulbs at a cost of over $600 so far. I just recently ordered two bulbs at once to have a spair. Both dont work. Thats right both. I'm done with this piece of junk and Toshiba for good!!! Date: 2008-10-26 Happy with my DLP I have a 56HMX94 DLP Toshiba, circa 2004. It's used an average of 30-40 hours a week since new. Still original lamp, used on low power and it's never rapidly switched on/off and a/c power is pulled when bad weather is around. I have had some intermittent issues with having to reboot the tv when it once in a while shows half a picture or a pixellated picture. Picture quality is excellent on 720 and 1080, wish it had newer tvs ability to upconvert. Overall I've been very happy with it. Date: 2008-09-14 LAMP LIFE OVER 3 YEARS I bought my toshiba 52 over three years ago and am still on the original lamp. We use it approx 5 hrs every day on low setting. I am going to buy a replacement bulb now just to have it on hand since my one year manufacturers and 2 year extended warranties have ended. Is it possible all these people who are having to replace their lamps so often are switching from low to high setting alot causing the lamps to weaken? I don't know, but it seems odd that there would be such a difference in my tv and theirs. Someone also mentioned that they were having their mirrors polished or cleaned. It seemed like the sales person at best buy had told me that the mirrors were sealed in an air type environment and wouldn't need cleaning. Does anyone know about this?
