User Submitted Toshiba 36A40 36" TV Reviews Date: 2000-12-28 Good picture, but apparent quality control problems... We received our Toshiba 36A40 shortly before the holidays. After spending most of the day on the phone trying to get through to Toshiba, a technician will be coming to pick it up from our house this afternoon. An overall beautiful picture is marred by several "dead" pixels and a strange, persistent ripple effect in two areas of the screen that are distracting during bright scenes. I'm not too thrilled, since moving this VERY heavy monstrosity in and out of the entertainment center causes damage to the wood each time. The service center says they've had several of these units come in over the past several weeks...and it will be a few weeks before we get the TV back, depending on parts availablity. Ugh. Date: 2000-12-01 Best Tube for the money I shopped extensively online and offline for a new TV to replace my Mitsubishi. The Toshiba came through repeatedly in my research as the best big tube TV. Hook this up to the Toshiba DVD player with ColorStream and you will be amazed at the color quality and resolution. I also take advantage of the Picture in Picture to channel surf or watch two ballgames at once. Yes, you could pay more for a flatter screen TV, but why?
