F27615 owners love their ChannelLock Direct Access Remote and take particular pleasure in the extra audio leveler that puts a muffler on those obnoxious TV pitchmen. The F27615 offers several additional useful features. Auto ColorControl automatically maintains natural flesh tones and color fidelity from channel to channel and scene to scene. Channel Labeling lets you assign on-screen characters to easily identify channels (e.g., NBC, HBO, ESPN, VH-1). Countdown timer returns TV to original channel, so other channels can be browsed during program breaks. Never buy an RCA TV, seriously
I will never buy another RCA TV again in my entire life and also in my after life. I bought two 32 in RCA TV and in less than 3 years none of them works. They won't power up, the TV's were in different households and in less than 3 years they are dead. When I called RCA/Thomson basically what they told me that I'm screwed without any further assistant. DON'T EVER, EVER BUY AN RCA TV.

Worth the money when it works
I agree that it is a good TV for the money when it WORKS. I bought this model about 3 years ago.
Half year after the warranty expired, the TV suddenly couldn't power up. And I need to pay $120 to change a IC chip. Avoid RCA as possible as you can.

GOOD REPUTATION GONE BAD
WE BOUGHT THIS RCA TV WHEN OUR TV FINALLY DIED AT THE RIPE OLD AGE OF 11 YEARS. WE DECIDED ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL BECAUSE WE LIKED THE IN-STORE PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY.

WE LOVED THE GUIDE PLUS FEATURE. WE COULD FIND OUT WHAT WAS COMING ON NEXT, WHAT IT WAS RATED, WHETHER IT WAS A RERUN, ETC. JUST BY PUSHING A BUTTON. SOMETIMES THE GUIDE PLUS DIDN'T WORK AND WE'D HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO UPDATE TO OUR LOCAL NETWORK. SOMETIMES THIS WAS DUE TO A POWER FAILURE, OTHER TIMES IT JUST HAPPENED.

HOWEVER, THE SOUND HAD BEEN ACTING A LITTLE FINICKY AND FINALLY WENT COMPLETELY OUT THE OTHER DAY. I CAN GET A TAPPING NOISE WHEN I ADJUST THE VOLUME, BUT THERE IS NO OTHER SOUND. I WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED, NOT ONLY BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER TV RIGHT NOW, BUT ALSO BECAUSE I THOUGHT RCA HAD A GOOD REPUTATION. I THINK FOR ALL THE TECHNOLOGY WE HAVE AT OUR DISPOSAL, WE COULD MAKE APPLIANCES THAT LAST LONGER THAN A FEW YEARS.

IF I DO GET ANOTHER TV, I WILL LOOK FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS A/V JACKS (WHETHER ON THE BACK OR FRONT) AND MAYBE SMART SOUND. IT WOULDN'T HURT TO HAVE A GUIDE PLUS FEATURE, TOO! BUT I DON'T THINK IT WILL BE RCA.

Two RCA TV's in a row died...
This is the second RCA TV I've owned. The first one began to get a fuzzy grey strip across the top of the screen that eventually took over more than half the screen. We only had it two years before it began doing this.

The second RCA TV just blew something in its power supply today. I was watching it and it just went "ffzztt" and turned off. It won't turn back on and it smells like a smoldering wire. The sound quality began to get metallic and "tinny" over the last few months as well. We've had this TV for just under five years.

I expect a TV set to last longer than 2-5 years - I don't think that's too much to expect! I will never again buy another RCA television.

The Good & The Bad
I owned this TV model for over 5 years. There's lots good and lots bad about it.

The Good: Good picture, good sound, good set until...

The Bad: The power supply blew. The replacement/repair of a chip cost me about 1/3 of the original price I paid for the TV. Then something else in the power supply blew about a month later. The repairman said he's seen several RCA sets with the same problem.

The Good: Like another reviewer, I didn't think I'd care much about the Guide Plus feature. Now I can't live without it. I'm desperately searching for a new RCA with Guide Plus.

The Bad: Apparently RCA doesn't make its new models with Guide Plus (at least not available in Canada). The Guide Plus feature was the best thing about that RCA TV. Without it, there are plenty of other fish in the TV sea.

So if you find an RCA with Guide Plus, it's a GREAT feature worth taking your chances on a power supply problem that hopefully RCA's corrected during the past 5 years.
